Fred Dixon was named CEO of NYC & Co., the CVB for New York City, after serving as the interim head since December.
Dixon has been with the CVB since 2005. As EVP, he was responsible for developing and implementing New York’s tourism and convention development strategy internationally, as well as in domestic leisure and business markets.
Before joining the CVB, he worked at the Nashville (Tenn.) CVB, Planet Hollywood International, the Biltmore Estate, Gatlinburg (Tenn.) CVB and Delta Airlines.
He has served on the boards of National Tour Association, Tourism Cares, Student & Youth Travel Association, US Travel Association/IPW Planning Committee and was the city’s appointment to the Javits Center board. He is the city’s liaison to Empire State Development and I Love NY.
Dixon is a graduate of the University of Tennessee.
He succeeds George Fertitta, who stepped down on Jan. 1, and now heads former New York Mayor Bloomberg's new consulting firm, Bloomberg Associates. Bloomberg named Fertitta to the CVB's top post in 2006.
